Meet Our China Staff

The House of Love operates as a domicile for special needs orphans, consisting of three Units on three floors. Each of the three Units also functions separately, with it's own schedule, Carers and equipment. The first floor houses the Residential/Cerebral Palsy Unit, and the second floor houses the Special Care Unit and the Clubfoot Casting Unit. To care for our little ones properly, all the children receive round the clock care. And many of the children receive very specialized care. All this requires the combined effort of many devoted people.

MEET THE DIRECTORS

Finance and Administration Director – China: Brian Trower

Brian was a founding member and current Board member of the Chinese NGO - Helping Hands Volunteer Association - which is the legal entity which manages the House of Love in China, for An Orphan's Wish. Brian's main tasks revolve around fund raising, planning, Finance and administration in China, however he has been involved in every area of activity since the organization's inception. For most of the ten years since arriving in China, Brian Trower has been employed as a consultant with a large travel company in Guilin. Brian Is married to Kirsten and they have 3 teenage/adult children.

Kirsten was a founding member and current Board member of the Chinese NGO - Helping Hands Volunteer Association - which is the legal entity which manages the House of Love in China, for An Orphan's Wish. Kirsten has been serving Chinese orphans since arriving in China ten years ago. She currently oversees the management of the House of Love and the care of the children in the 3 units. Kirsten has also trained and mentored House of Love staff, and organized and participated in training for volunteers, foster parents and orphanage staff. She is married to Brian and they have 3 children whom she has homeschooled while living in China.

MEET THE SUPERVISORS

There are five Supervisors at the House of Love. Their duties are multi-faceted and include working between the three Units, overseeing the Carers, and managing the care of the children.

MEET THE CARERS

The Carers are employed specifically for one of the three Units. The goal is provide the children in each Unit with Carers that are consistent, so that they become familiar with the hands that love, nurture and feed them. The Carers do not rotate between Units, they work in one Unit only. We find that this is the most successful way to care for the children.
