I wrote about the importance of community. Today I’d like to make it a little more personal, especially for you parents of CP kids.
I’ve written about An Orphan’s Wish a lot, more times than I even realized. If you’d like to know more about the organization itself feel free to take a look at my previous posts:

An important part of building a community is finding someone out there that you can share with. It doesn’t have to be your deepest darkest secrets. You don’t even have to know each other personally, barely knowing each other works too. All you need to see is part of yourself, an identifying factor, in someone else.
When I first meet a parent of a CP kid one of the first things I’m usually told is, “I’m so glad to meet you. I’ve always wanted to find someone who is like my child.”
As honored as I am by the sentiment it creates a conflict in me. Actually it makes me feel pretty burdened. I’m not one of the few with CP; I’m one of the many. I’m just one of the few you get to see.
Let me introduce you to just a few more who may be like your child.

Brad likes to draw, creating things with play dough, and playing with his friends.

Jacob can often be found building with friends. He also loves to swim. Can you tell?

Tina likes to learn, especially English, she also enjoys making crafts with friends.

Oliver loves to be outside as much as possible, no matter the weather.

Jimmy is a big help to younger children. He also loves practicing English.

Lyn always has a smile on her face! She does very well in school & enjoys reading.

Jack is where all the action is. He also likes to help out with odd jobs.

Frank loves to laugh at a good joke. Can’t you tell by his smile? He also enjoys running.

Jill has a gift for being an encourager & example to others around her.
These children need a community to belong to just as much as yours does. Do you have room for one more child in your heart? Your child would love to get to know another person just like them, half way around the world.
